Success Algebra 2 is a slimmed down modified algebra 2 course designed for students who need algebra 2 credit for graduation, but struggle with extra learning challenges that make learning and processing math extremely challenging. Our goal is to redeem mathematics and learning for these students, helping them get through a challenging subject like algebra 2. Diagnoses for these types of students can be (but not limited to) dyscalculia, ADD/ADHD (but not gifted in math), high functioning autism, or other similar processing or learning challenges. Of course, a diagnosis is not required to determine if your child needs this course. Often, a gut feeling from a parent is enough.

As a side note, just because a student struggles with a learning challenge, that does not immediately mean they need Success Algebra 2. Other factors such as maturity level, work ethic, and self-confidence cause learning challenges to play out in different ways in each student. To take Success Algebra 2, students need to have had algebra 1 (any algebra 1 course of any kind is sufficient). A student need not have algebra 1 material mastered (or even remembered). The important thing is that students need to have just had exposure to the world of algebra 1. All algebra 1 is reviewed and retaught throughout the Success Algebra 2 course.

The course covers all the topics found in a standard algebra 2 course but does so at a lighter level and breaks the lessons down into bite sized pieces, so lessons are not overwhelming. Topics covered in the course include simplifying algebraic expressions, solving equations and inequalities, word problems, linear equations, functions, systems of equations, systems of inequalities, factoring, imaginary numbers, solving quadratic equations by various methods, graphing quadratic functions, factoring and solving cubic equations, graphing cubic functions, rational expressions, simplifying radical expressions, solving radical equations, simplifying exponential expressions, logarithms, trigonometry, probability, and statistics.

While Success Algebra 2 is not a “college prep” course, the goals of the course are to help a student graduate high school with the needed math credits, build math confidence and remove the pain of learning upper level math, and get a student far enough in upper level math so if they would like to pursue higher education, then they have a fighting chance at being able to handle beginning level college courses (the aim is to prep students to begin in community college, but again, every student is so unique that students can accomplish anything they want after taking Success Algebra 2). And while this course does cover the topics found on the SAT/ACT, it does not cover the topics at a deep enough level to consider it “prep” for those tests. It is highly recommended that a student also prepares separately and specifically to take those exams.  

1-year access to our comprehensive Success Algebra 2 teaching videos. These are short, to-the-point instructional videos covering essential algebra 2 topics. The course also includes access to the Solutions Library where every homework and test problem is worked out and explained on video.

This packet contains two versions of tests for each chapter (forms A and B), allowing a student to re-test if he or she needs further practice on concepts. The corresponding solutions manual works out each problem for each version of the test in detail. The 3-hole punch packet format allows parents, tutors, or teachers to easily disperse individual test forms as needed and accurately check work afterward.

The parent guide provides parents with all the information they need to confidently guide their student through Success Algebra 2, whether the student needs the parent to be fully hands on, mostly hands off, or somewhere in between. It provides a pacing guide, grading suggestions, and grade recording pages.
